A Place of Dignity: The Nguyen Family’s Hope for Health
Mrs. Nguyen
Mr. Nguyen inside his simple house.
During my visit to A Lưới, Mr. Nguyen and his wife welcomed us into their home with warmth that far exceeded what they own. Though their resources are limited, their generosity is not. They reached for fruit from a small tree behind their house and offered it to us with quiet pride.
Their home was bright, meticulously clean, and cared for with intention. Mrs. Nguyen believes deeply in dignity through basic hygiene. She sweeps, organizes, and tends to her space every day — yet she dreams of something many of us rarely think about: a safe, indoor toilet for her family.
The Nguyen family has no outhouse, let alone indoor plumbing. When nature calls, they walk to nearby trees on shared community land where rice is grown and animals graze. What may seem like a simple inconvenience is actually a health risk.
Sanitation is not a luxury. It is the foundation of hygiene, disease prevention, and dignity. Without proper facilities, families are exposed to illness, unsafe conditions, and daily hardship that no one should have to accept as normal.
With your generosity, that story can change. A gift of $800 provides the Nguyen family with the materials and labor to build a safe, indoor toilet, giving them privacy, protection, and better health for years to come.
Donate now to help the Nguyen family begin their journey to better health.
With kindness, we thank you!
