A Simple Need, A Powerful Change: Ms. Ho Thi My Ly Story

Ms. Ho is a warm, gentle woman with a shy laugh that fills her small home in A Lưới. She lives with her husband and children, spending her days caring for their chickens, their dogs, and a few playful puppies that bring joy to a life built on resilience.

Their home is simple, one dirt floor room occupying a kitchen, a living space, and a place to sleep. Behind the house stands a small shed where Ms. Ho collects rainwater in a large blue bin. Every drop is precious. It’s the water she uses to bathe her children, wash clothes, and keep her family healthy.

When we gently asked where the bathroom was, Ms. Ho covered her face with a shy laugh, embarrassed, yet honest. She pointed toward the backyard and explained that her family runs to the tree line whenever nature calls.

Sanitation is not comfort, it is safety, dignity, and disease prevention. Without it, families face daily risk, exposure, and hardship no one should have to accept. With a gift of $800, Ms. Ho’s family can receive a safe, private toilet, giving them protection, health, and dignity for years to come. Ms. Ho is not alone. More than 2,000 families in A Lưới face the same reality.

Donate today and help families like Ms. Ho’s take a step toward health and hope.
